I stole this from Carson.

Pick 5 Albums you will take with you to a deserted island:
This one is hard.

1) Patti Smith- Horses
2) AFI- Black Sails in the Sunset
3) Jackson Browne- my own mixed CD
4) Simon and Garfunkel- Greatest Hits
5) Counting Crows- August and Everything After
That one really was hard, so I'm going to name five honorable mentions, just in case the Gods decide to be nice and let me take more.
1) The Beatles- White Album or Abbey Road
2) Dave Matthews Band- Under the Table and Dreaming
3) Dresden Dolls- Self Titled
4) A Perfect Circle- 13th Step
5) Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds- Best of

Pick 5 magazines you will take with you to a deserted island:

1] Spin
2) Bitch
3) Vanity Fair (the ads alone will take me three years to get through)
4) NME
5) Newsweek

Pick five TV shows you could watch on your tv on a deserted island:
1] The L Word
2] Daria
3) Six Feet Under
4) Viva La Bam

Pick 5 celebrities (one to cook for you, one to entertain you, one to sleep with, one to be your pal and one to keep you sane) to bring to this island:

1] Cook for me: Iron Chef Sakai. It'd always rock, and he can do about 5 million things with shellfish; good thing when you're on a desert island
2] Entertain me: Eddie Izzard
3] Sleep with: Kate Moening, chic that plays Shane on the L Word.
4] Be my pal: someone who wouldn't get pissy if their hair got tangly and if they didn't get some sun.... so obviously not Davey or Jade.
5] Keep me sane: Jason Lee.

And finally what will you name this island?: Mine? Mine mine mine mine... mine?

I should be on VH1's "Best Week Ever"
Ok, so the majority of the week wasn't great, but I had two really great student related things happen. The first was this boy that I had two summers ago came back to do some retesting and I didn't get to to talk to him much when they first got there. But, when I went out to break, he was waiting for me in the lobby and as soon as I got there, he said "Caitlin, I didn't get a hug from you yet." It was almost too cute. The second lovely student thingy was that I one of my students had her last day on friday and she left me this note:
"Dear Caitlin,
You are the best. You brighten my day all the time! When we pick a story in V/V (one of our programs) that isn't that great, you always make it funny and a little bit easier. You're a great teacher and I loved working with you! Thanx soooo much for teaching me something that is changing my life!"

Yeah, it's moments like that that totally make all the shitastic times way worth it.

This weekend rocked my little bobby socks. I don't have bobby socks, but if I did, this weekend would have rocked them. Friday night was excellent times with a bunch of folks that I hadn't seen in awhile complete with a viewing of Juris Prudence Jones, PI, D's latest complete film, and Stephen Lynch Live at the El Rey. Stephen Lynch is severely fuckable and completely hell-bound. That was all followed by extraordinarily high times with Jess and Renee. Excellent end to a friday night.
Saturday was all about the filming of Sex Crime of the Century which was fanfuckingtastic and more offensive than Team America. I do believe I finally got the roles that I was born to play (an abusive lesbian badminton coach, a skeezy backalley abortion clinic receptionist, and a group therapy member obsessed with Neil Patrick Harris aka Doogie Howser). Renee and I hit up the MAC counter after the filming, then ate the fuck out of some sushi, and finished up with some Longs shopping. Renee dyed my hair this gorgeous blackish brown with cherry tones while we watched Clueless. It was a tres le happy day.
Today Renee shot some rolls for her photo project and we did a bit o' shopping at Camouflage before I drove back. My purchases make a happy girl indeed. ;)
It was a damn good week. Thank you, over and out.

sections of songs that might save you [05 Apr 2005|10:18pm]
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move, but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child, I had a fever
My hands felt just like two ballons.
Now I've got that feeling once again.
I cannot explain, you would not understand....
This is not how I am.

* * *

Maybe it's the 3rd world,
maybe it's his first time around.
Doesn't speak the language,
he holds no currency.
He is a foreign man,
he is surrounded by the sound
of cattle in the marketplace.
He looks around,
sees angels in the architecture,
spinning to infinity,
"hey," he says "Hallelujah"

* * *

All other instruments of faith and sex and God in the belly of a blackwinged bird.
Don't try to feed me, cuz I've been here before and I deserve a little more.
I belong in the service of the Queen,
I belong anywhere but in between.
She's been lying, and I've been thinking.
and I am the rain king.

* * *

don't know where I'm running now I'm just running,
running on empty, running wild.
Running into the sun,
but I'm running behind

All right. So this here thingy is everywhere:
"post anything that you want but post it anonymously.
a story, a secret, a confession, a fear, a love, a recipe, a death threat, a poem, a photo... anything.
make sure you post it anonymously though, otherwise you'll look like a bit of an idiot.
you can post as many times as you like."

Do it here too, but anything you post has to be sexual. Sex story, sex confession, fear of/about/concering sex, lovely sex/sexy love, recipe for delicious sex, deathly sex, sex poem, sex photo... yadda yadda yadda. I do have the soul of a 13 year old boy and this is your proof..

C'mon. It'll be a hell of a lot more entertaining for me and anyone else to who checks the comments.

I just have to say, weirdly enough, that the ACDC tribute "Backed in Black" as acoustically done by a bunch of ladies is pretty damn good.

MASH rules too.

My favorite student did some testing this morning and when my boss told me, my co-worker and his mom that he made made incredible improvements and huge gains, I almost cried. And the look on his face when he heard... really amazing.
He's one of the students that I care about so much. He deserves to succeed and have a good life. I feel like a sappy grandmother, but all I can think is "I'm so proud."

whhhahhhhahaaaaaaa take it! [28 Mar 2005|09:23pm]
Hokay. So my birthday (my 23rd to be exact. I think) is in less than a month and if any of you are remotely interested in getting me anything, here's a list. People always ask and I always say "nothing" because: (a) I don't want to make people spend money on me, and (b) I generally have no clue what I want. In order to avoid the sounds of aggravation that I get when I say the aforementioned "nothing", here's a list.

-a classic typewriter (no one on this list needs to worry about this one. I'll probably just bid on one on ebay but if you so happen to stumble upon a good deal or an awesomely rad one, let me know)

-mixed tapes/ CDs. I eat this shit up. Mmmmmm mixalicious

-MAC stuff.... eye kohl (black or navy blue), any radtastic eyeshadow, nail polish, or a set of good brushes since at this moment it's just me and my fingers

-posters or artwork of any kind. Original stuff preferred... *cough*renee*cough*

-vinyls. Doesn't have to be expensive. Christian introduced me to the wonders of Streetlights cheap-ass record selection.

-toys! Little random things like plastic dinosaurs or hot wheels or those windy things. My windowsills need decoration, and I need distraction.

Carry on then. =)

would you like some pancakes? [23 Mar 2005|07:36am]
[ mood | angry ]

I had a dream last night that my mom and I went to into this dinner theater place, but it wasn't so much theater as crappy films and that night's showing was Sweet Home Alabama. So we go in, get settled in our little booth thing when all of sudden, the entirity of AFI and all their entourage walks in and sits at the booth next to us *oh le gasp*.

Over the course of a crappy dinner and a crappier film, Davey offers my mom and I sections of his cheesecake. He was pretty as ever, but his mannerisms were much more akin to Dave Chappelle's impression of Prince.

How the hell does one analyze dreams? Mine never seem to have any bearing or relationship to "deeper issues" in my life. So secretly I want a piece of Davey Havok's cheesecake?
